The schooner in this novel is based on the Sherman Zwicker which currently resides on the Hudson River. Today, the ship has been turned into a bar/restaurant. She was similar to the Bluenose; however, rather than made for speed, this schooner was crafted to work. She’d carry dories to the grand banks where the fisherman of Newfoundland could fish and earn a living.
When Eddie discovers an opportunity to join the Grand Banks Schooner as a guest, he jumps at the chance. Here he meets a lively crew of Newfoundlanders along with a host of other interesting guests.
The schooner in this novel really is the vessel that carries the story forward. Find out why in the upcoming novel, “Me Dear Love”.
